| Positive points about your laptop:
| From the very beginning, owning a laptop has been considered a thing too niche in itself and it always brought with it a sense of pride and a sense being a part of that elite group of people who have had the privilege to own it, I being a student couldn’t have been more proud to own this piece of Toshiba technology.
This one here was bought three years go when the above said theory was probably at the threshold of being broken i.e. between the period of the rapid decline in prices that we see now. Getting it involves a story in itself, it was shipped from Muscat through a friend at Rs. 46,000/- when it’s Indian market price was around Rs.60, 000/-. Well, it surely was a catch.
This is powered by the Intel Mobile 915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chipset together with a 1 GB Ram so this gave a visual shared memory of 128 MB, 1.73 Ghz, 2 MB Cache, 60 GB Toshiba MK6032GSX hard disk, a MATSHITA DVD-RAM, the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG and Realtek Ethernet card, some USB drives, Touch pad and loads of Toshiba self help propriety laptop software. Considering its price and that it was bought 3 years ago its some value for money.
If the configuration wasn’t enough this was the first laptop which combined a stylish Black outer cover with the Silver TOSHIBA embossed on it, an inside silver cover and a black coloured keyboard to give the contrast. The tech appeal it exudates together with its DVDs acoustic silencer and a black smooth touch pad & a DVD writer(again a first for the price) makes it more comfortable and noise free to use. It also has the media help buttons directly embedded into the keyboard saving the hassles to change songs, pausing them etc. It has lasted the test of time with the no. of falls that it has survived with not even a boot up when it fell (Toshiba Satellite Pro brilliance). With Windows XP preloaded, this was all that I had hoped for. The laptop I think would probably suit more to left handers as all its ports/USB/serial/speaker etc are to the left which is sometimes a little irritating considering I am a right handed guy. Also the speakers were a let down. Me being a boarder wanted some thumping music out of this comp but the volume output by the Conexant speakers was way below in comparison to even an ordinary lap but this was compensated with a Creative 2 in 1 which I was literally forced to buy. The keyword contains Arabic superscript letters which has amused a lot of my Indian friends.
All in all, a very competitive laptop even today and a truly value for money buy and to top it all this piece is a fashion accessory.
