| Positive points about your laptop:
| It has been almost 23 months since I am the owner of a laptop (actually my dad is the owner, but I use it). My parents got it for me as a gift when I got the National Talent Search scholarship. It has 512MB DDR 1 RAM. Pentium M processor @ 1.5GHz and a 40 GB HDD. It also has a card reader, a wireless adapter (intel 802.11 a/b/g) also has bluetooth and a dual layer DVD writer. A network card from broadcom, 10/100Mbit. A 56K intel modem. The screen is 4:3, 15.1" and battery is usual 6 cell one. It came with Windows XP PRO. Also has 3 year warranty.
The build quality is very good and I like the design a lot. The display quality is not so good. It lacks brightness. There are 2 USB ports, 1 firewire port, 1 monitor port, 1 modem port and the network port. The inbuilt speakers are good considering a laptop. But I am a music freak and for me, it lacks the quality that you expect from a 58K laptop. Yeah.. it cost me 58K. The keyboard layout is fine. Has all the buttons neatly placed.
I would have loved this laptop a lot, if it had not been for the troubles I faced. In the 23 months, I have had 5 HDD and 5 DVD drive replacements along with a MotherBoard and a Bluetooth dongle replacement. All due to manufacturing defects. So, on the service part and even the product quality and build quality part. The laptop sucks. But I still like it a lot.
I have had 3-4 occasions where I was literally saved by the laptop. We have seminars in colleges, and the PCs in colleges are useless. I faced many problems with audio-video in my presentation. The laptop saved me imagine taking a desktop to college.
Same thing goes for heat and noise. Heats up a lot. Even the 0.75" table-top on which it is placed heats from the bottom. (wood -> not a good conductor of heat) and the DVD drive produces a lot of noise.
In all, I love 'a laptop'. All my work with the usual powercuts in India... I would have not survived with a desktop. But as far as 'the laptop', mine is concerned, I hate HP. Their customer service is crap. |
